West Vancouver Memorial Arch
ADDENDUM
Jan 2008 research currently in progress
The West Vancouver Legion, Branch 60 passed a motion to create a Veterans Honour Committee in September 2007. The purpose will be to continue the research and documentation of all Veterans from West Vancouver, and the soldiers that fell, serving their country. Our ultimate goal being, to have every Veteran recognized and honoured.
One of the goals is to place an addendum plaque(s) at the Memorial Arch to honour West Vancouver’s fallen soldiers that are currently missing from the Cenotaph. The creation of this webpage is the first phase in this interactive process.
If you know of a soldier (or spouse/parents of a soldier) that lived in West Vancouver, at the time they signed up for duty and were K.I.A. or M.I.A., and are not listed at the Memorial Arch or below; please email rcl60membership@gmail.com

WORLD WAR II
The standard on WW II Honour Rolls is that a star was placed next to the name of a soldier that was K.I.A. or M.I.A. During the documentation of the West Vancouver Honour Rolls in 2007 (listed under the Remembrance section on this website) it became apparent that several West Vancouver men were missed when the WW II Plinths were dedicated in 1979. The Book of Remembrance at the West Vancouver Memorial Library has 70 names and is the only list that is an exact match for the names listed on the WW II Plinths at the Cenotaph. The only logical conclusion is that the Book of Remembrance was believed to be a complete list at that time and so was used.

IN THE SERVICE OF CANADA
The Seventh Book of Remembrance was dedicated on November 11, 2005. It was created to honour the valiant men and women in the Canadian Forces who gave their lives in service to Canada since October 1947, with the exception of those commemorated in The Korean War Book of Remembrance.
