THE LEGION'S LEGACIES

Our new online community allows everyone to post online stories of Canadian war veterans. Proud Canadians, who want to embrace the ideals that are brought forth on Remembrance Day, can share what it means to them personally on www.legionlegacies.org.

This is your chance to share a family story, or adopt a veteran, post a tribute to our Canadian Forces and contribute to Canada's Legacy... by posting tributes of their sacrifice for our freedom. The result of this ongoing project -- will be a growing volume of connected stories, pictures, songs, educational resources and videos; a kind of Facebook meets YouTube for Remembrance. A great resource for families, educators, students and veterans.

Our strategy is simple. Connect the children of Canada to their men and women veterans and Canadian Force Members in a meaningful and profound way. This website is ideal for teachers to assign Remembrance Day projects to their students, who in turn, post the legacy their family members have made to the cause of freedom. Students who do not have a relative who fought for Canada, can adopt a veteran or post a tribute in gratitude for all that we enjoy living in a free and democratic society. Educators may post a video or pictures about their school Remembrance Program. No post is too small or seemingly insignificant. We encourage everyone to participate.

Real Canadian men and women veterans will be reading every post, and will comment on the accuracy, if in question. Our tribute section is not meant to be legalistic in it's nature. It's about sharing what we (as Canadians) know to be true.

If your grandmother served in the many special capacities for women in uniform or took up work to sustain the economy on the home front or planned fundraising activities or sent care packages for the young men on the front lines, she deserves to be remembered on our site! If your grandfather was a merchant sailor veteran who bravely sailed the Atlantic Ocean during the war, he deserves to be remembered on our site too! All citizens contributed in one way or another and bonded us as a Nation.

We are looking forward to your posts!
