2008 ZONE DARTS PLAY DOWNS AT BRANCH 60
Darts Team
The Manager of the Branch 60 Darts team is Eve McLatchie. Our Captain is Harry Kelly and the rest of the team are Spencer Hammon, Bob McLatchie, Andy Kelly, Jean Roach and Dave Roach. We play on Monday nights , home and away and every other weekend. We are currently around third to fourth place in the standings, with two more divisional games remaining. A further two weeks of play offs and our season will be over.
Wednesday evening is Darts night at Branch 60. The attendance varies between 12 & 20 through most of the year, with higher attendance when we arrange a tournament with prizes, snacks and drinks provided by sponsors.
The members in the pictures are ;- Sammy Saundh, Paul Sarling, Peter Skinner, Guy Thompson, Peers Gilmore, Horam Whitters, Harry Kelly, Gerald Oliver, Bob McLatchie, Eve McLatchie, Jean Roach, Dave Roach. Andy Kelly and Spencer are missing from both the team and Wednesday group picture.

2008 ZONE DARTS PLAY DOWNS AT BRANCH 60
Branch 60 was chosen this year as the venue for the North Shore/Howe Sound Zone Darts play downs, to determine which teams would represent our Zone at the Provincial Darts Tournament in Sicamous on March 28 / 30th.Twenty eight darts players turned out representing teams from Pemberton, Squamish, Lynn Valley, North Vancouver and West Vancouver Legions. David Roach was our local organizer and apart from the carpentry required to “get the house ready” did a superb job with the organization of the event. He was helped by Valerie MacGregor, Gordy Kennedy and myself.
Reg Lewis, our Zone Commander and Valerie MacGregor, President Branch 60, welcomed the contestants and David Roach laid out the “rules of engagement”!
We started at 9.30 with the “quads” which was won by the West Vancouver Team of Bob MacKlatchie, Paul Cartwright, David Roach and Andy Kelly. At the coffee break, donuts and muffins were supplied by Tim Hortons and an extra trip was required to bring in more of the “sugar coated variety”!! Doubles started after the break and was won by the Squamish “B” team of comprised of Linda Fitzsimmons and Ian Krzanowski. We broke for lunch which was provided by IGA in Dundarave. The sandwiches, fruit and vegetables were fresh and very tasty, having been made that morning. They were washed down by a couple of drinks and the afternoons play commenced with the singles. The hush of the morning’s play had now gone and was replaced by an air of excitement as the experts showed us their stuff! The singles Champion was Clint Levett from Squamish.
A great day was had by all…..to be repeated.
